CA Training Participant Agreement and Policies

Please carefully review the following information before registering for Constructed Awareness® Level One, Level Two, or Level Three training.

1. Professional Eligibility

All participants must be licensed mental health professionals or, if not licensed, meet the following professional training requirements:

  • Have completed master's-level coursework in a mental health discipline and be pursuing clinical licensure, or

  • Be an advanced graduate student completing a supervised clinical internship under a licensed clinician.

2. Clinical Practice Requirements

All participants should have a current, active psychotherapy caseload.

CA trainings are designed to help clinicians integrate the material taught into their clinical practice.

3. Experiential Practice and Participation

A significant component of CA training involves clinicians practicing in small groups under the guidance of the instructor or a training assistant.

By registering, participants agree to participate in the experiential practice portions of the training. These experiences are intended for professional education and skill development, not personal psychotherapy.

Participants are encouraged to consider their readiness to engage in experiential learning and are welcome to communicate any accessibility accommodations or participation needs that may support their learning experience.

If there are circumstances that could affect participation in practicum activities, participants may contact the Constructed Awareness Institute before training to discuss possible accommodations or adjustments.

Disclosure of a mental health diagnosis is not required to register or participate in CA training.

4. Home Practice and Training Preparation

A significant portion of CA training involves practicing techniques, listening to guided audio recordings, and watching demonstration videos between training sessions to support the integration of what is being learned.

By registering, participants agree to engage in the home practice activities associated with their training.

5. Professional Conduct and Participation

Participants are expected to maintain a spirit of cooperation, mutual respect, and support for others throughout the training experience.

Behavior that significantly disrupts the learning environment, creates unnecessary conflict, or compromises the safety and well-being of other participants will be addressed by the instructor.

Participants whose conduct is disruptive will receive one warning. If the behavior continues, the instructor may dismiss the participant from the training without a refund.

The instructor also reserves the right to dismiss a participant whose conduct substantially interferes with the learning experience of others, consistent with applicable policies and law.

6. Confidentiality and Professional Ethics

To protect the confidentiality of personal and clinical information shared during training, audio and video recording by participants is not permitted without explicit authorization.

All participants are expected to maintain the highest ethical standards of confidentiality regarding personal and clinical information shared by others.

Confidentiality applies to all practicum experiences. Specific details may be discussed only with members of the immediate practice group, the practicum facilitator, and the trainers. Participants may also discuss their own emerging material with a private therapist.

Clinical information shared during training must be appropriately de-identified in accordance with applicable professional ethical standards, privacy requirements, and licensing obligations.

If a participant recognizes someone appearing in a demonstration video, they agree to notify the instructor immediately so that an alternative video may be selected. Individuals appearing in demonstration videos have previously provided authorization for their use in training.

Breaches of confidentiality may result in immediate dismissal without a refund and may be addressed as professional ethics concerns, including reporting to a licensing board when appropriate and consistent with applicable obligations.

7. Cancellation, Refunds, and Training Transfers

Cancellation and Refund Policy

Participants may request a cancellation and refund up to 14 days before the scheduled start of training. Refunds will be issued minus a $100 administrative fee.

No refunds will be issued for cancellations made fewer than 14 days before training begins or for withdrawals after the training has started.

All cancellation requests must be submitted in writing from the email address used during registration.

Training Transfers

Participants who need to move their registration to a different training date may request a transfer.

If the transfer is requested more than 30 days after the original registration date, a $100 administrative fee will apply.

A $100 administrative fee also applies to participants who need to make up a missed training day during another scheduled training.

Each additional transfer is subject to a separate $100 administrative fee.

All transfer requests, including requests to make up a missed training day, must be submitted in writing from the email address used during registration.

8. Continuing Education and Attendance Requirements

At the conclusion of training, and after participants complete the required evaluations, certificates of completion will be emailed to eligible participants indicating the number of continuing education (CE) hours earned.

Continuing education providers, including NBCC, ASWB, and APA, do not allow partial CE credit for these trainings.

To receive continuing education credit, participants must attend the entire training and complete all required activities and evaluations.

Certificates will not be awarded if any portion of the training is missed.

9. Technology Requirements

CA trainings are conducted live online through Zoom.

Participants are expected to have access to a computer with a functioning camera and microphone, a reliable internet connection, and the most current version of Zoom.

Having the Zoom application installed on a phone as a backup is recommended.

Participants are responsible for becoming familiar with their devices and the Zoom platform before training begins to support their participation in the learning experience.

10. Level Two and Level Three Prerequisites

Participants registering for CA Level Two must have completed CA Level One before attending.

Participants registering for CA Level Three must have completed both CA Level One and Level Two before attending.

If a participant registers for a training without meeting the applicable prerequisites, the Institute may arrange a refund or assist with transferring the registration to an appropriate training level.

11. Dual Relationships and Professional Boundaries

The Constructed Awareness Institute recognizes that dual relationships may arise among participants during training.

Participants agree to disclose any existing dual relationships to the trainer so that appropriate arrangements can be made to support the integrity of the learning experience.

These relationships may include current or former therapeutic relationships, supervisory relationships, or other professional connections.

Such disclosures allow the trainer to avoid pairing individuals with existing dual relationships during practicum activities when appropriate.

Participants are asked not to disclose these relationships to the larger training group. Respecting the privacy of these relationships helps support participant safety, comfort, and confidentiality.
