Training Overview
Constructed Awareness® (CA) Level One is a live, interactive training designed for therapists who want to integrate mindfulness-based, trauma-informed approaches into their practice.
This foundational training introduces the core principles of CA, including nonviolence, nonduality, mindfulness, and working with the three building blocks that shape human experience. Clinicians begin developing ways to enhance history taking, resourcing, and client self-awareness through greater awareness of thoughts, bodily sensations, and external senses.
Using awareness as the primary catalyst for change rather than relying on willpower, participants explore an empirical and intuitive approach to therapy that supports deeper understanding and responsiveness to clients' experiences.
The skills developed in Level One also help prepare clients for trauma and attachment processing using methods taught in CA Level Two or other process-oriented approaches.
What You'll Explore
In this training, participants will:
Explore how awareness can act as the catalyst for therapeutic change, rather than relying on willpower alone.
Learn to guide clients in expanding awareness of the three building blocks—thoughts, sensations, and external senses—which shape emotional experiences and perceptions of self and others.
Identify and work with client orientation patterns, including mental, sensation, and external orientations, to tailor interventions and support emotional regulation.
Discover the six CA orientation styles and explore how recognizing these patterns can help clinicians introduce resources that deepen self-awareness and promote self-regulation.
Prepare clients for deeper trauma processing work in future sessions using mindfulness-based, trauma-informed resourcing skills.
Interactive Training Format
This live online training takes place via Zoom over four days, spanning two weekends. Participants engage in:
Informative lectures
Live and recorded demonstrations
Hands-on practicums
Collaborative group discussions
The time between training weekends offers an opportunity for reflection and integration of the material.
What Participants Receive
A 65-page handbook
22 additional handouts and scripts
12 guided audio files to share with clients
20 demonstration videos
30 hours of continuing education for therapists
These resources provide practical tools that therapists can begin integrating into their clinical practice. Participants also have opportunities to practice skills live and learn directly from Tyler Orr, the creator of the CA model.
